Our Morning Rhythm

Our Morning Rhythm

Our current morning rhythm is such a peaceful part of our day and more often than not it flows like clock work. It wasn’t planned or structured, it just flowed this was and seems to be exactly what we all need.

I truly believe the morning rhythm is one of the most important part of your days. It’s setting the intention for the rest of your day. If there is yelling, rushing and constant battling with each other then the rest of your day is likely to follow suit. Alternatively, if the morning is a time where everyone’s needs are met and it is a place of support and understanding then the day can only go up from there.

Our morning rhythm:

7am - 8am - Wake, cuddle and play in bed. Juice fresh orange juice, make breakfast and pack lunches for the afternoon activity. We always have enough time to prepare and cook pancakes or have simple toast depending on what is wanted. Bags are packed and ready to go so there is no rushing later when we want to leave the house.

8am and 9am - Hunter will often eat breakfast while doing some Reading Eggs or drawing. During this time I will journal and yoga for about 30 minutes while Luna plays around me. I’m always in the same room as both kids so I can help and interact with them when needs. Luna goes from playing outside, to feeding, to playing inside, to feeding and back outside on repeat.

9am and 10am - We will read some books together, play imaginary games and cook during this time too. Painting or craft often happen as well. We will all do a clean up from the mornings activities together. “Teamwork makes the love work” is a little family mantra that Hunter made up and this is what helps us to clean up altogether.

10am and 11am - Family walk. Luna sleeps for half the time, and Hunter sits in the pram (he’ll be in the pram until he’s 10 at this stage and I’m not complaining)! Sometimes I listen to a podcast or music and other days Hunter I chat and tell stories the whole time. He guides this. I follow his energy. Then it’s back home to hop in the car and head off to our activity for the day.

Our morning rhythm is rooted in deep connection with ourselves, each other and our world. We spend this time nourishing bodies, playing with one another and doing activities that we all love and need to have a great day. You won’t find me vacuuming, or cleaning the house during this time. At best I’ll sweep up the rocks Luna no doubt put inside and make sure all the dishes are clean but our mornings are sacred and we cherish this time.

I would love to know what your morning rhythm looks like, do you love it or are you after something more?
